The 1994 would be your better bet. I have a 1990 TT that I have owned since Jan 1990. Rust - The T-tops tend to rust from the inside to the outside. Generally the paint bubbles up on the painted strip of the T-tops. On the 1990 rear hatch area the black strip (Has the Nissan and TT logos on it) that goes across the back from left to right gets rust underneath. The plastic bubbles up and the rubber molding underneath crumbles from the constant water leakage (Rust) from the wing not being sealed. The center mount brake light on the 1990s, lift open the hatch and look at the bolts and you might find rust. Aluminum calipers warped, Auto tranny was too weak for TT (Later years they put stronger Auto Trannys in.
Drivers side seat wear from sliding in and out. Stock Bose sterio amplifiers (Mounted in the rear speakers) tend to go out. Turbos went out at 90k miles and engine and tranny had to be replaced at 124K miles (TT run hotter). Hope that helps,
